An Update from your JHYC Executive Team.

Welcome to an update on current activities from your JHYC Executive Team. As you are aware Tim & Lucy are off on their travels and are continuing to support JHYC remotely, we wish them well in their adventure. The planning for the JHYC Valentines Regatta on 14/15th February is well under way. The registration is Friday 13th 17:00 – 18:00 at Sea Dream, prize giving is Sunday 15th 17:00 also at Sea Dream. We hope to see you there? We are excited to welcome a small fleet of RS Elites this year. There is no planned activity for the Saturday 14th evening so you are free to explore the hostelries of Jolly Harbour.
Note: Mangroves has its own Valentine’s Dinner that night for US$100, so will not be open for general drinks.

We need your help on three Regatta activities this year: 1. Chase Boat Crew, we are looking for some competent Power Boaters who can assist with the laying of marks and providing general race support for the Regatta. Training and instructions will be given. Lunch expenses are covered and beer will be awarded, plus T-Shirts. If you can support either or both days, please contact Robin Mackenzie on WhatsApp @ +447801447146 or email Mackenzie.rob@btinternet.com

2. Setup of the Prize Giving area at Sea Dream. Many of the usual crew are sailing so we need a couple of helpers to assist putting up the banner and arranging the prizes etc ready for Sunday 5pm. You will probably need transport. Please contact John King on Whatsapp +12687169829 or email jhyctreasurer@gmail.com

3. Committee Boat. Chris Mansfield is looking for 3 more people to assist on the Committee Boat, previous experience desired, but not essential, just a keen eye and ability to work as a team. Training will be given. Please contact Chris Mansfield on Whatsapp: +447768044060 or email: Chris@boathouse.org.uk Charity Quiz Night.

Members David and Jackie Richardson will be hosting a quiz night at Mangroves Jolly Beach on Monday 2nd March @ 7:30. Proceeds will be split 50/50 between Sailability and The Hospice.
More details soon.

End of Season Dinner. This will take place at Mangroves on Saturday 21st March, from 6pm. This includes food, standard drinks and a DJ. Tickets will be EC$200 for members and EC$220 for nonmembers. Ticket sales will commence next Thursday 5th Feb at Club Night, please see Terry and Alyson Pagan.
Again, we are looking for help in setting the room up for the evening and managing the table plan. As most of the committee will be out Saturday Sailing prior to the event, we would like someone to assist us with this.
Please contact Terry or Alyson Pagan on Whatsapp: +447825201308 or email: Alyson@pagan1.co.uk or terry@pagan1.co.uk
Beach BBQs. No planned date for the next one, as February gets busy with the Regatta.

We have been kindly offered space to store the BBQ at Harbour Breeze near Reeds Point. Thankyou Peter and Glynis. The club has just purchased a lockable storage box which will make setup and take down much simpler. Jolly Harbour Marina Discount for Club Members. The Jolly Harbour Marina has offered JHYC Club Members a 10% Discount for dockage and storage in 2026. To qualify for the discount, you will need to present the Marina with your 2026 JHYC membership card which includes your name. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other special offers. This is a fantastic discount for members and thanks to Jim Lillywhite for negotiating this with Jo Lucas and her subsequent approval. Discounts at Budget Marine. This is just a reminder that Club Members may also get a discount at Budget Marine. This discount is discretionary and may not apply to all products or in conjunction with other offers. This discount is not valid if you are purchasing via Boat Papers.

Club Nights at Fat Urchin. It has been noticed that some non or past members are trying to take advantage of the JHYC discounted rates. We will be discussing this with the Fat Urchin to ensure only paid-up club members receive these benefits.
