Newsletter no. 2 of 2019 27/2/2019
It’s been great start to the season with a number of events that have already taken place and the Valentines regatta over for another year.
Saturday Sailing.
Saturday sailing has seen some changes over the last few weeks. With the number of boats in the Division 2 on the start line it was decided that if there were more than 6 boats there would be two starts. So far there has been two occasions. The club handicap is being replaced with a progressive system similar to the Portsmouth yardstick. This sees all boats finishing with their elapsed time very close. This promotes the skills and tactics on the day. This system will allow all boats in one class
Membership
The membership is still increasing and has reached a 150 of single and family members. There are still a few members that have not renewed.
Valentine Regatta
A great two days of the water with 17 boats enjoying the sailing in good winds. Over 110 sailors took part in the perfect weather conditions with 18 knot wind gusts. Boats were competing in three classes. The Saturday entertainment saw 1761 playing in Al Portos to a pack crowd. The restaurant saw over a 150 eating and listening to the band
Sunday saw another day on the water. The wind was stronger with gusts around 21 knots. The prizes were presented by His Excellency, Governor General Sir Rodney Williams KGN, GCMG.
