The Regatta Headquarters will be located at the JHYC office in the Sea Dream Restaurant & Bar.

RULES

1.1 The regatta is governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 Addendum A – Safety and Equipment Regulations will apply.
1.3 Elite One Design Class Racing.
1.4 The rules will be changed as follows:
(a) Rule A2, Series Scores, will apply except that a boat’s worst race score will only be excluded
from her series score if six or more races have been completed.
(b) Rule 44.1, Taking a Penalty, is changed so that for all classes the Two-Turns Penalty is
replaced by the One-Turn Penalty
(c) Rule 52, Manual Power, will not apply
(d) Rule 77, Identification on Sails, will not apply.
The Sailing Instructions may also change other rules.
1.5 Boats shall carry a VHF radio capable of communicating on channel 12

2. ADVERTISING
All boats competing may be required to display advertising chosen and provided by the organising Authority.

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The regatta is open to all Elite One Design boats.
3.2 Boats are encouraged to enter online at www.jhycantigua.com/sailing Payment to be made at
the briefing.
3.3 Entries will be accepted up to 18.00 on Tuesday 9th February 2027. Late entries may be
accepted at the sole discretion of the Organizing Authority (OA) and if accepted a 20% late entry
penalty may be levied on top of the entry fee.

4. FEES
4.1 The entry fee is EC$ 250 registered prior to 18:00 9
th February 2027.
4.2 Entry fees shall be paid by no later than Tuesday 9th February 2027. All fees shall be paid by
cash or cheque only. Returned cheques will be subject to a fee of US $100 plus any levied bank
charges.

5. REGISTRATION
5.1 Boats may enter by completing the registration form online at: www.jhycantigua.com/sailing
5.2 Registration is mandatory for all entrants and will take place at Sea Dream Restaurant & Bar
Tuesday 9th February 2027from 17:00 to 18:00. There will be a skipper briefing at 18.00 in the
same location.
5.3 Each boat shall provide a list of names and contact information for each member of the crew
at Registration.
5.4 Each boat shall provide its sail number at Registration.
5.4 A skipper or support person for each boat shall sign a waiver at Registration.

6. SCHEDULE
6.1 A mandatory Skippers’ Briefing is scheduled for 18:00 on 9
th February 2027 at the Sea
Dream Restaurant & Bar.
6.2 Racing will take place on Wednesday 10th February Thursday 11th February and Friday 12th
February 2027.
6.3 Nine races are scheduled, with no more than four races on any day.
6.4 The warning signal for the first race on each day will not be before 10:00.
6.5 On the last scheduled day of racing, no warning signal will be made after 14.30.
6.6 Prize-giving will take place not before 16.30 on Friday 12th February 2027, at the Sea Dream
Restaurant & Bar.

7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

8. COURSES
All courses will be in the waters off the west coast of Antigua in the general vicinity of Five
Islands by Jolly Harbour.

9. INSURANCE
All boats shall have a minimum of adequate Third-Party Liability Insurance which covers racing
valid for the duration of the Regatta.

10. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
RRS 3 states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to
race is hers alone.’ By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that
sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds
and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor
seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in
increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic
injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes. The OA and its affiliates will
not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction
with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

11. PHOTOGRAPHIC AND MEDIA RIGHTS
Competitors grant the organising authority the unrestricted right and permission to use their
name and/or image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves or the boat
they are sailing during the event to be published or broadcast in any media whatsoever (including
but not limited to press and TV advertisements or internet), for either editorial or advertising
purposes or to be used in press information.

ADDENDUM A – SAFETY AND EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS
These regulations represent minimum standards of preparedness for racing in the Jolly Harbour
Yacht Club Regatta. They do not replace, but rather supplement, the requirements of applicable
local or national authority for boating, the Racing Rules of Sailing, the rules of Class
Associations and any applicable rating rules. It is not an exhaustive list nor is it a substitute for
good seamanship and preparation. Each competitor shall be solely responsible for the safe
preparation of their boat.
1. SCOPE
These regulations shall not be grounds for a protest except by the technical committee, race
committee or the protest committee. This changes rule 60.1.

2. Safety Equipment
2.1 Elites One Design Safety Equipment as per RS Elite Class rules.
2.2. Sufficient drinking water shall be provided such that there remain at least 0.5 litres of water
per person onboard at the end of each race.
2.3. Where applicable all required items shall be: a) of a suitable specification for the boat and
expected conditions b) in-date and fully serviceable.
