JHYC Annual Regatta
Notice Of Race
20th-22nd November 2020
The Jolly Harbour Yacht Club invites you to compete in the Annual Regatta. The Organising Authority is Jolly Harbour Yacht Club under the auspices of the Antigua Barbuda Sailing Association in association with the Caribbean Sailing Association. The Regatta Headquarters will be located at the Jolly Harbour Yacht Club office in the Jolly Harbour commercial centre. Times are Antigua Standard Time (UTC minus 4 hours).
1.1 The Regatta will be governed by the Rules as defined in the World Sailing (ISAF) Racing Rules of Sailing
(2017 - 2020).
1.2 The Regatta will also be governed by:
(a) the CSA Rating Rule;
(b) The JHYC Safety Requirements as published on the JHYC website.
1.3 The Rules will be changed as follows:
(a) Rule A2, Series Scores, will apply except that a boat’s worst race score will only be excluded from her series score if six (6) or more races in the series have been completed.
(b) Rule 44.1, Taking a Penalty, is changed so that for all classes the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
(c) Rule 52, Manual Power, will not apply; and
(d) Rule 77, Identification on Sails, will not apply.
The changes will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions. The Sailing Instructions may also change other rules.
2.1 All boats competing may be required to display advertising chosen and provided by the Organising Authority as permitted by World Sailing (ISAF) Regulation 20.
3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The Regatta will be held for the following classes, which may be subdivided:
(a) CSA Monohull

3.3 Entries will be accepted up to 18.00 on Friday, November 20, 2020. Late entries may be accepted at the sole discretion of the Organizing Authority and if accepted a 20% late entry penalty may be levied on top of the entry fee.
3.4 The Organizing Authority may amalgamate, cancel, divide, sub-divide or rearrange classes at its sole discretion.
3.5 All entries must declare their sail configuration at Registration but in any event, by no later than 18:00 on Friday, November 20, 2020.
3.6 When a rating system offers multiple sail configurations or other alternative ratings, the entrant shall declare the choice to the technical committee no later than 18:00 on Friday, November 20, 2020.
4.1(a) For all classes the EARLY BIRD entry fee is EC$150 for boats registered online by midnight on November 18, 2020.
4.1(b) For all classes the entry fee is EC$200 for boats registered online after midnight November 18, 2020.
4.2 Entry fees shall be paid by no later than 18:00 on Friday, November 20, 2020. All fees must be paid by cash or cheque only. Returned cheques will be subject to a fee of US $100 plus any levied bank charges.
4.3 Each boat is required to provide a refundable CASH fee of EC$50 at registration as a deposit for class flag. The fee will be returned to boats at Prize Giving when the flag is returned to the committee.
5.1 Eligible boats may enter by completing the registration form online at
5.2 Registration is mandatory for all entrants and will take place at the Jolly Harbour Yacht Club office in the Jolly Harbour Commercial Centre, Antigua, on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 16:00 to 18:00.
5.3 Each boat is requested to provide a list of names and contact information for each member of the boat’s crew at Registration.
5.4 A skipper or support person must sign a waiver at Registration.
6.1 All boats are required to provide their sail numbers before the close of Registration, if available.
6.2 Each race class will be issued with a returnable class flag to be flown from the backstay. A refundable cash deposit of $EC50 will be charged to all boats for the class flag.
7.1 A skippers briefing will take place at 16.30 on 20th November subject to Covis protocols. Location to be advised.
7.2 Racing will take place as follows:
Saturday, November 21, 2020. Two races planned
Sunday, November 22, 2020. Two races planned
7.3 A minimum of one (1) race will be scheduled for all classes on each day of racing.
7.4 The warning signal for the first race on each day will not be before 10:00.
7.5 On the last scheduled day of racing, no warning signal will be made after 2pm.
7.6 Regatta Prize Giving arrangements will be advised in due course and be subject to Covid-19 protocols.
8. MEASUREMENT AND RATINGS
8.1 All entries should have, in the CSA Monohull Class, a valid 2019/2020 digitally-certified CSA rating certificate.
8.2 Boats requiring CSA measurement in Antigua should contact a CSA Official measurers no later than noon on Monday, November 16, 2020. Measurement of boats in time for registration cannot be guaranteed after that time. Contact information for CSA Official measurers can be found on the CSA website:
8.3 Boats without a CSA rating will be accommodated and issued a rating at the sole discretion of the Organising Authority.
9. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
9.1 Sailing Instructions will be available at Registration and may be published online at:
10.1 All courses will be located in the waters off the west coast of Antigua in the general vicinity of Jolly Harbour and will be around laid marks in a minimum depth of 5 metres. Courses for smaller vessels may be set in water depth under 5 metres.
11. HAUL OUT RESTRICTIONS
11.1 Boats shall not be hauled-out during the Regatta except with and according to the terms of prior written permission of the Race Committee.
12.1 All boats must have at least Third Party Liability Insurance valid for the duration of the Regatta.
13. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
13.1 Competitors participating in the Jolly Harbour Annual Regatta 2020 do so entirely at their own risk (see RRS 4, Decision to Race). The Organising Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the Regatta.
13.2 Skippers must draw the attention of their crew to this disclaimer before the start of racing.
15. PHOTOGRAPHIC AND MEDIA RIGHTS
Competitors grant the organising authority the unrestricted right and permission to use their name and/or image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves or the boat they are sailing during the event to be published or broadcast in any media whatsoever (including but not limited to press and TV advertisements or internet), for either editorial or advertising purposes or to be used in press information.
